Job Description    

 

DESCRIPTION:  This employee is responsible for the delivery of comprehensive psychological services. Duties of this position include, but are not limited to:

 

1.      Planning and Development

QUALIFICATIONS:

Master’s degree or above

State of Washington ESA Certification

 

Desired Qualifications

Bilingual in Spanish

Training in accredited school psychology programs

Successful experience in like position

 

Reports to:

Special Services Director

 

Supervises:

No direct reports.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.      Planning and Development:

a.       Participation in the development of the comprehensive plan at the school and district level

b.      Participation on school and district committees

c.       Participating as part of a Student Service Team

d.      Observe students in the educational setting

e.       Write reports of eligibility following Federal and Washington State guidelines

f.        Consult with principals and staff concerning behavior management and/or design of specialized curriculum. Administer functional behavioral assessments (FBA) and assist with planning a Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP)

2.      Services to Students:

a.       Conducting comprehensive psychological evaluations that include but are not limited to the assessment of intellectual, developmental, academic and social/emotional and behavioral status

b.      Assessment and data collection by use of informal or non-standardized evaluation techniques

c.       Interpreting and utilizing assessment data for the purpose of writing psychological reports and developing written intervention plans

3.      Service to Parents:

a.       Consulting with parents regarding psychoeducational information and interventions.

b.      Interpret and share test results with school personnel, parents and the student, when appropriate

4.      Service to Teachers:

a.       Consulting with teachers and administrators regarding specific students

b.      Attend Response to Intervention (RTI) meetings

5.      Professional Development:

a.       Maintaining professional skills through reading of current literature and professional memberships

6.      Other Duties and Responsibilities:

a.       As assigned

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Working area will be in a regular education classroom.  Provide instruction in any of the currently offered and anticipated math courses: Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Geometry, Algebra II, Pre-calculus, AP Calculus.  Provide remedial instruction to students who demonstrate that need.  Maintain inventory and equipment assigned to the Math department.  Provide programming within budgetary constraints. Teaching assignment will be determined on an annual basis by the building principal.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, lift, carry, move about, hear and speak. Employee may be required to perform extensive work at a computer display terminal.

 

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, or consistent with the subject being taught, but can be abnormally loud on occasion.

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally work in outside weather conditions and be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, temperature fluctuations, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals commonly used in instruction and/or cleaning.  It may be expected that the individual could be exposed to blood or other potentially infectious materials during the course of their duties. The employee may be exposed to infectious disease as carried by students.

 

The employee may be required to travel in school owned or leased vehicles while supervising and assisting students.
