QUALIFICATIONS:
The Migrant/Bilingual Paraeducator, under the supervision of a teacher, will assist the teacher in the instructional and supervisory portion of the school day. Instructional materials will be chosen and prepared by the teacher. The teacher will train the paraeducator in procedures and strategies for effective instruction in their classroom. The paraeducator will work with students in small groups or on a one-to-one basis. Also, required:
· Must be bilingual in Spanish/English.
· Have a two-year degree or the credit equivalent; or pass the ETS test.
· Demonstrate responsible behavior and independent work habits.
GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
1) The Paraeducator will assist individual students and small groups of identified Migrant/Bilingual students in promoting academic success and building English language development through instructional activities, which have been planned, assigned and organized by the professional staff.
2) Demonstrate the ability to work with multiple supervisors.
3) Remain confidential regarding school matters.
4) Demonstrate competency with computers (word processing, database and spreadsheets.)
5) Assist in administering and scoring the English Language Proficiency Assessment (ELPA21) or other language dominance/academic tests. Collect and organize data and information as directed.
6) Assist in documentation for Migrant/Bilingual children in the program and related information as directed by the professional staff.
7) Assist in maintaining various files as directed by the professional staff.
8) Assist in the supervision of Migrant/Bilingual students in a school or playground setting.
9) Perform other appropriate duties as requested by the supervisor.
*Changes or alterations to the above may be adjusted by the supervisors as deemed necessary.
