QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Valid Washington State Certificate.
  2. Prefer teaching experience.
  3. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find acceptable.

DEMONSTRATED ABILITIES

  1. Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, parents, and community.
  2. Abilities in the use of a variety of classroom management techniques and teaching strategies.
  3. To work effectively with all children with varying academic, emotional, social and physical needs.
  4. To promote parental/community involvement and learning.
  5. Have experience with, knowledge of, skill in, and support of shared decision making.
  6. Have experience, knowledge, and skill working with Washington State’s Educational Reform-Essential Learnings, and New Assessments.
  7. Demonstrated teaching abilities in core curriculum areas.
  8. Ability to integrate instruction/make class-curricular connection in teaching and reading.
  9. Demonstrate a commitment to on-going professional learning and collaboration.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Teach in an intermediate classroom with a wide range of student abilities using developmentally appropriate activities for all children in the class.
  2. Maintain classroom environment conductive to learning and proven ability to manage student behaviors in a positive manner.
  3. Be personally interested in a team-teaching program at the building level with a high level of parent involvement.
  4. Have a positive attitude and be willing to participate actively and cooperatively with others on the staff in the shared decision-making process.
  5. Work collaboratively with special program teachers and educational assistants to facilitate an integrated instructional model.
  6. Other duties as assigned.
